The Role Of Teaching Agencies

Posted on July 26, 2014 at 2:45 pm

Many schools in the UK rely on teaching agencies to get high quality teachers on a budget. A teaching agency is responsible for equitably supplying high quality and well-trained teachers to various schools. Normally, they support not only teachers but also the entire school fraternity. The agencies give opportunity to new teachers to quickly access schools of their choice whether it is for permanent or short-term basis.

As a school, you must consider many things before liaising with a particular teaching agency. Agencies whose goals and objectives are founded in providing strong education professionals to SEN schools, secondary and primary schools are the best. Teachers provided and recruited through these teaching agencies should be well-experienced. For you as a teacher, a reliable teaching agency is one, which offers ethical recruitment procedures that involve finding you the right job suiting your skills. A good agency will offer you a consultant who will ensure you are recruited for a job fitting your personal situation.

Most of these agencies also provide qualified education professionals such as classroom assistants, nursery staff, SEN teachers among others. Teachers alongside other professionals are usually vetted and subjected under extensive and through interview before being recruited. In this way, agencies are able to connect schools with the right type of teachers matching the requirements of the schools and the students. It is hard for schools to concentrate on vetting and interviewing teachers as it may consume a lot of time. That is why, the services of these teaching agencies are very crucial. They only allow quality and knowledgeable teachers to join their team.

The Government Teaching Agency

Recently, the government formed its own agency to deliver school workforce reforms. Some of its core responsibilities include supporting school improvement to address underperformance in the education system, continuous professional development and carrying out teacher training.

The prime responsibilities of this government agency are ensuring fair recruitment, supply, training and even development of teachers. Other functions of the agency include recruiting and developing child care and early education workers, education psychologists, special education needs coordinators and overseeing the regulation of conduct by teachers. They assist also exams delivery officers while at the same time managing general qualification logistics.

Posted on May 16, 2014 at 2:30 pm

A recent report on schools in and around England indicate there is a vast need to recruit more school governors to represent the wider community. The government is in the process of formulating a series of calls to action to encourage more people to become a school governor.

At this current moment in time there are around 350,000 governors in England that their combine value to the school system is worth £1 billion a year, while controlling the budget of £45 billion worth of school spending.

The results show that 96% of the school governors are usually retired and have had professional or managerial jobs prior to becoming a governor. The recruitment drive is trying to involve more ethnicities from different socio-economic groups to give the approach to governing a holistic representation of the population covering both urban and rural settings.

Governing bodies are trying to give incentives in order for employers to let people take time off work (if still in active employment) so they can get involved as the typical time allotted to school governing is between 4 and 16 hours a month.

Posted on April 25, 2014 at 2:05 pm

In the past few years the amount of UK students has increased. Noticeably from 2013 to 2014 there has been a substantial jump from 20% to 37%.

Some students view this as a unique adventure that could boost their employability as well as help them grow as individuals in a different culture system. The UK students destinations of choice are Australia, United States of America, France, Germany and Canada.

This comes as a result of the increase of tuition fees in the UK. Students are looking for alternatives and are very willing to travel to get these new experiences.

Not only does this have the capacity to learn and adapt to different cultures, its also an opportunity to learn new languages and push students beyond their comfort zones and gain additional academic credits.

Whether students study in the UK or abroad there is still some concerns about the debt that they will incur. Time will tell if this trend continues to increase.

Recruitment for Education Jobs

Posted on March 23, 2014 at 10:53 am

There are two main factors that can totally affect the destiny of many UK children and the type of job they intent to get in future after school: the way they get the education and to whom it is administered. This is because going to school is very important in every child’s future life. Due to this fact, education recruitment is very important and extremely special field. There is an acute shortage of adequately qualified and trained teachers in the United Kingdom. The UK government has spent has spent a lot of money and resources in professional teacher recruitment and their development.

Two loyalties come with education recruitment. The first one is focused on school or college and the second one is focused on the teacher. In UK, people who were teachers at some point in their life manage many recruitment agencies. This has put them at a better place to carry out the recruitment process of people who end up being teachers in UK schools. The colleges or schools normally inform these agencies whenever they have a vacant teacher position that need to be filled. If that given area lacks a specialist teacher, then the recruiting agency may suggest to the school to start with the available supply teacher until the specialist teacher is found. Once the agencies get the teachers consent, their resumes are given to the colleges and schools that require them.

Education recruitment agencies in the United Kingdom are a big business. A good number of permanent teaching posts are currently being done by the supply teachers since teaching has evolved to become a highly recognised career where burnout is very common. Many teacher recruitment agencies in the UK have a database of teachers that contain information such as their geographical location, their skill, expertise, level of experience, and many more. Shortages and staffing needs in many areas is mainly addressed by the teacher recruitment. A good example is when a given area has a shortage of chemistry or physics education specialist in London and Maths, Religious education, or English specialist in Manchester.

Shortage of teachers in the United Kingdom is a very crucial matter to an extent that even the classroom deputies are currently being used as teachers. This has made the UK government to prioritise on the education recruitment to an extent that it has launched graduate teachers plan to address this shortage. This program is made to work in a way that it compensates the teachers when they are undergoing training when attached to a given school. Many of the teachers will remain in supply teaching for some months until an appropriate position comes along. Newly graduated teachers in the UK are assured of a starting salary even before formal employment but this still has failed to totally address shortage of high school teachers who are specialists in a given subject. A good number of teachers in UK apply for oversees teaching jobs. These foreign positions are found in agencies, newspapers, and recruitment exhibitions.

Finding the Job your Looking for

Posted on February 21, 2014 at 4:09 pm

Finding the job that you can be totally satisfied by is very difficult, and will probably take a long time. For most people, they need to treat every job they have before then as an opportunity to improve their personal presentation, so that when a great opportunity comes by they won’t be over looked because they aren’t capable or impressive. Being able to impress people when you need to is the most important ability for anybody who is determined to get what they want in life. This doesn’t mean that you should be abusive, or a ‘shark’. Showing that you are able to work well with other people is a basic skill required in almost every job. If you show that you can only sap the motivation of others, and just generally be a poor team player, then the likelihood that you will get what you want from life will depend entirely upon your ability to do your job. But most jobs require some level of interaction with people who need to see you as a team member, and not being able to work with them is a death sentence.

Adapting your CV for the Job you Desire

Posted on January 27, 2014 at 8:25 am

A CV doesn’t just have to be a stationary page that only changes when you get a new job or a new qualification; it can actually be tweaked and adapted for the positions you’re going for. One CV is not going to be entirely relevant for one specific job, and if you take this into account you could end up increasing your prospects.

Occasionally there are countless CVs handed in for one available job position, and the closer your CV is to that position the better. You may find that the job you are applying for has a list of skills required. If those skills are not mentioned in your CV then it’s likely that you will not make the cut for an interview.

This is why you should consider adapting your CV for the specific job you are applying for. It’s something experienced individuals will do when they apply for a job, but remember you do not necessarily have to rewrite your CV, you can merely make the changes that are required and nothing more. Happy Job hunting!

Posted on January 23, 2014 at 7:21 pm

Self advertising can be extremely important in terms of gaining the job you desire. Self advertising is taking your recruitment into your own hands. It can take a long time to hear anything back from recruitment agencies, and there’s no harm in you contacting employers directly to see if they have any opportunities. This is where you will need to pitch yourself to potential employees and be direct about it.

Advertising yourself using social media networks can also increase your chances of gaining a job, and it essentially means building up your contacts and making many people aware of your skills and the fact that you’re looking for work. LinkedIn can be an ideal network for building professional contacts, and by spending time building connections with relevant people, you may just get a lucky break.

This type of direct self-advertising can show you’re being more forceful about getting a job, perhaps more passionate and also unique. Even though some employers may not get back to you, they may just keep you on their records, so over part of communication with potential employers is vital.
